AT&T is seeking a Senior Full Stack/ AI Engineer in Mexico City with a strong backend foundation and growing AI expertise. This role will support the development of AI-powered solutions, including intelligent billing and collections capabilities, as well as scalable backend services across the AT&T enterprise ecosystem.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with experience building scalable, API-driven applications and at least 1 year of practical AI/ML experience in production or experimental environments. Candidates with less direct AI experience may still be considered if they show a strong interest in the field and a clear commitment to continuous learning. This role also requires the use of AI-assisted development tools to improve delivery speed, quality, and overall engineering productivity.
What You Will Do:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and full stack applications using Java in an Azure cloud environment.
- Build and integrate AI-enabled and data-driven capabilities into new and existing platforms.
- Partner with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to turn business needs into technical solutions.
- Develop reusable services and microservices for enterprise-grade applications.
- Use AI-assisted development tools to improve coding, testing, debugging, and documentation efficiency.
- Integrate with data products to support reliable, scalable, and efficient data flow.
- Ensure solution quality through testing, observability, performance optimization, and sound technical design.
- Contribute to architecture decisions and continuously improve engineering productivity through automation, modern tools, and emerging AI/ML practices.
What You Will Need:
- Strong backend engineering experience with proficiency in Java and building enterprise-grade APIs and services.
- Experience developing in Azure cloud environments, with familiarity across key Azure services.
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture, REST APIs, and distributed systems.
- At least 1 year of hands-on experience with AI/ML technologies, including LLMs, AI APIs, or ML-enabled features.
- Experience integrating AI capabilities into applications, such as automation, decisioning, or natural language interfaces.
- Demonstrated ability to use AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity.
- Experience working with data pipelines, data products, or data-driven architectures.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in complex enterprise environments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders, with experience working in Agile/Scrum teams.
Additional Desirable Experience
- Advanced experience with AI/ML frameworks, LLM orchestration, or agent-based architectures.
- Experience building AI-driven applications, such as conversational systems, automation workflows, or decision intelligence solutions.
- Familiarity with Azure AI services, data platforms, or MLOps practices.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools, including Docker and Kubernetes.
- Exposure to telecom, billing, collections, or financial systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to self-driven AI learning through courses, personal projects, or open-source contributions.
What You Will Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Fully bilingual: must speak, read, and write in both Spanish and English.
- The role is based in Mexico City. No relocation is offered. This position is hybrid; you may be expected to go into the office 2 days per week.
Our Senior Full Stack Engineer earns between $84,000 – $126,000 MXN gross monthly. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on experience, expertise, and education/training.
