Senior Member of Technical Staff
Plano, Texas
This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered.
Overall Purpose:
This Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS) position is an individual contributor role responsible for the architecture and optimization of enterprise platforms, data systems, and SIM/eSIM enablement capabilities supporting AT&T Connected Solutions IoT and device ecosystems. The role requires deep technical expertise paired with domain knowledge in SIM and eSIM technologies, logistics workflows, and large‑scale supply chain optimization, operating at the intersection of engineering, analytics, and commercial strategy.
A core focus of this role is end‑to‑end optimization of SIM and eSIM logistics and ordering processes at AT&T scale. The position partners closely with Supply Chain Management (SCM), operations, engineering, and external suppliers to analyze ordering flows, forecast demand, and design data‑driven processes that reduce friction, eliminate waste, and improve responsiveness across the SIM supply chain. This includes influencing SKU rationalization strategies that concentrate volume on a smaller set of strategically critical SIM and eSIM SKUs, enabling AT&T to leverage its scale to improve quality, reduce cost, and simplify logistics, inventory management, and system integration while maintaining future flexibility.
The SMTS is expected to develop and maintain deep technical expertise in SIM and eSIM technologies, including form factors, grades, environmental specifications, security and encryption capabilities, compute and memory profiles, and SIM Toolkit (STK) functionality. This includes understanding card applet and embedded function execution, associated architectural and commercial tradeoffs, and familiarity with eSIM standards such as SGP.02, SGP.22, and SGP.32 to support provisioning, lifecycle management, and platform integration decisions.
In addition to hardware and supply chain responsibilities, the SMTS serves as a hands‑on technical architect across enterprise data platforms and applications, including analytics environments, Salesforce‑integrated systems, and legacy platforms. Strong analytical and programming skills are expected to support data analysis, automation, and rapid learning of domain‑specific development environments, including secure and constrained execution contexts such as SIM applet frameworks. This role is intended for an autonomous technologist who influences senior technical and business stakeholders and applies engineering judgment, data, and system‑level thinking to drive technical and commercial outcomes, with direct impact on AT&T’s cost structure, operational efficiency, and strategic leverage across the global SIM and eSIM ecosystem.
Key Roles and Responsibilities: Typical tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Research, Development and Collaboration: Drive Research and Development initiatives, integrate emerging technologies, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business needs.

- Qualifying Areas of Technical Expertise: Product/Technology Developer/Engineer, Systems/Platform Architect/Engineer, Hardware/Software Product Engineer, Product QA Certification Designer/Engineer, Technical/Cybersecurity Designer/Engineer, and Open Radio Access Network (ORAN).
Job Contribution: An experienced professional with advanced, interdisciplinary knowledge, resolving difficult and complex issues using broad professional concepts.
