Typical tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Performance Media Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and execute performance media strategies across programmatic and digital channels

  • Translate business objectives into channel plans, audience strategies, budgets, and forecasted outcomes (e.g., conversions, CPA/CAC, ROAS).

  • Build full-funnel media approaches that connect awareness tactics to measurable lower-funnel outcomes through intentional targeting, sequencing, and retargeting.

Campaign Activation, Optimization & Test-and-Learn

  • Lead day-to-day campaign execution and in-flight optimization

  • Establish an always-on testing roadmap (audiences, creatives, placements, formats, and landing pages in partnership with web/CRO) and scale learnings across campaigns.

  • Diagnose performance drivers quickly and recommend budget shifts and tactical changes to improve efficiency and volume.

Data, Analytics & Measurement

  • Own performance measurement approach and reporting requirements; ensure campaigns are instrumented for reliable conversion tracking and actionable insights.

  • Analyze campaign and audience performance using Adobe Analytics and synthesize results into Tableau dashboards/readouts for stakeholders and leadership.

  • Use data to identify drop-offs, conversion barriers, and opportunities for improvement; partner with analytics and site teams to refine journeys and improve conversion rate.

  • Communicate performance narratives that connect media signals to business outcomes, clearly outlining what happened, why, and what to do next.

AI-Enabled Media & Analytics Execution

  • Apply AI-driven capabilities to improve campaign outcomes and operational efficiency, including: Using platform automation and bidding/optimization features with appropriate human oversight and guardrails. Using generative AI tools to accelerate development of performance assets and variations (e.g., copy concepts, creative briefs, ad variation ideation), ensuring brand and legal compliance. Using AI-assisted analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities in performance data and dashboards.

  • Establish guidelines for responsible AI use (data privacy, model limitations, prompt hygiene, and human review) in campaign planning, creative iteration, and reporting.

Partner & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as a key partner to internal stakeholders (brand, creative, analytics, product, and web/CRO) to align on goals, messaging, timelines, and success metrics.

  • Manage external partners (agencies, platform/vendor reps) to ensure best practices in trafficking, measurement, brand safety, and ongoing optimization.

  • Drive strong operational cadence (weekly performance reviews, monthly business reviews) with clear actions and owners.

Budget, Governance & Performance Management

  • Own media budgets across programmatic and digital, including allocation strategy, pacing, forecasting, and performance-based rebalancing.

  • Establish KPIs and guardrails (brand safety, viewability, frequency, fraud) and ensure compliance with governance standards.

  • Provide leadership with data-driven recommendations on investment, channel mix, and optimization priorities.

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Support integrated campaign planning and content needs to ensure assets are fit-for-purpose across performance formats.

  • Conduct competitive and market research to identify platform innovations, targeting opportunities, and evolving consumer behavior.

Oversees operational aspects of the function with emphasis on performance media execution, measurement rigor, and optimization. Typically leads entry-level and career-level staff and influences decisions related to hiring, performance management, and development. Supervisor: Yes.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired.

  • 8+ years of experience in performance marketing/digital media with hands-on expertise in DV360, Adobe Analytics, and Tableau (dashboarding and performance storytelling).

  • Demonstrated experience leveraging AI-enabled tools and automation to improve campaign performance, accelerate workflows, and enhance insight generation (with strong governance and human QA)

Our Associate Director-Mktg Communications earns between $158,200 - $237,400 USD Annual. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
