What You'll Do
The Member of Technical Staff discipline is part of a technical career program designed for employees who are working on new and emerging technologies AND who have made a significant commitment to their education by earning at least a 4-year degree in specified STEM areas.
- Conduct hands-on network validation and certification testing of complex optical network components and systems.
- Execute test plans and provide data-based conclusions and results. Develop, expand, and improve existing test plans.
- Conduct hands-on proof-of-concept testing and design validation/innovation of Layer 1/2/3 network designs.
- Participate in or lead project meetings to report progress, discuss issues and resolutions, and ensure solution requirements are met.
What You'll Bring
- Advanced, hands-on lab testing for compliance, performance, and functionality for Broadband, Dark Fiber, and DWDM solutions.
- Minimum 5 years' experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex, mutli-vendor TCP/IP networks. Extensive Layer 1/2/3/4+ network knowledge and experience.
- PON: The ideal candidate has past experience testing and troubleshooting Passive Optical Networks (GPON, XGSPON, etc.).
- Extensive experience with Ethernet over Copper, Ethernet over Fiber, performance and limitations.
- Strong understanding of network security principles, firewalls, and common vulnerabilities.
- Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, shell script.
- Project Management: Ability to manage and deliver upon demands of multiple, simultaneous tasks in a team environment.
- Communications Skills: Capable of proficient and fluent verbal and written communication with peers, partners, and vendors. Able to produce clear and concise documentation of test plans, results, bugs and troubleshooting steps, etc.
What You'll Need
- PhD in a STEM field from an approved university with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or Masters in a STEM field from an approved university with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors in a STEM field from an approved university with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Cisco CCNP or CCIE; Juniper JCNIP or JCNIE; Palo Alto PCNSE
Our Principal Member of Technical Staff, earns between $180,200-$270,400 USD Annual. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
