Job Summary:
This position will build and lead a Quality Engineering organization responsible for pre-production integrated environmental management and data provisioning to ensure seamless testing and validation across all customer and agent journeys. As a Quality Engineering Director, you will oversee the delivery of robust integrated environments on a Program Increment (PI) basis, enabling consistent testing across N, N+1, and N+2 releases for front-end digital and Salesforce applications, omni-channel middleware services, and back-end systems including billing, supply chain, network, dispatch, and other critical platforms.
This role demands expertise in environment management for both large IT-wide releases and Agile SAFe-like methodologies, ensuring the platforms are ready to support integrated and end-to-end testing. Additionally, the role will own and manage the data team responsible for providing test data for all phases of validation, including scrum, integrated testing, end-to-end testing, and production validation.
About the Job:
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in integrated environment management and data provisioning, strong leadership skills, and technical expertise across complex enterprise platforms.
Experience: Over 15 years in Quality Engineering or Environment Management for large, complex portfolios of applications. Demonstrated ability to support integrated testing across multiple product and engineering teams in both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
Environment Management Expertise: Extensive experience in configuring, deploying, and maintaining pre-production environments for integrated testing. Expertise in environment readiness for large-scale releases and incremental Agile delivery models.
Data Management Expertise: Proven ability to lead data provisioning teams, ensuring high-quality, reusable test data for multiple levels of testing. Experience with data extraction, anonymization, and validation techniques to support testing needs across diverse applications.
Industry Experience: Telecom industry experience is highly desired.
Domain Proficiency: Experience across CRM, web applications, shared services/middleware, billing, supply chain, and network systems.
Test Methodologies: Proficiency in integrated testing methodologies, automation strategies, and tools to drive efficient and effective validations.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Strategy (25%)
Team Development and Strategic Planning:
Build and mentor a high-performing team of environment managers and data engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Define and implement strategic plans to streamline environment readiness and data provisioning across the organization.
Develop a vision for integrated testing support that aligns with business objectives and Agile methodologies.
Quality Engineering Strategy:
Develop and execute strategies to ensure integrated environments are prepared for testing across releases and incremental Agile delivery.
Define environment and data readiness benchmarks and metrics to improve processes and minimize delays in testing.
Analyze environment and data provisioning metrics to identify opportunities for efficiency and optimization.
Continuous Learning and Business Acumen:
Stay updated on the latest tools, technologies, and processes for integrated environment management and data provisioning.
Develop a deep understanding of business and technology platforms to drive efficiencies and simplify testing delivery.
Integrated Environment Management (30%)
Oversight and Management:
Ensure pre-production environments are configured, deployed, and validated to support integrated testing across front-end, middleware, and back-end systems.
Collaborate with IT operations and development teams to resolve environment-related issues and bottlenecks.
Ensure scalability, reliability, and availability of integrated environments to meet business needs.
Planning and Execution:
Oversee environment readiness planning and execution for N, N+1, and N+2 releases.
Ensure alignment between Agile sprint teams and integrated testing teams to maintain consistent environment availability.
Continuous Improvement:
Drive root cause analysis for environment-related issues and implement long-term solutions to enhance reliability and efficiency.
Identify and prioritize improvements to environment management processes.
Data Management and Provisioning (30%)
Oversight and Management:
Lead the data team to ensure test data availability for all levels of testing, including scrum, integrated testing, end-to-end testing, and production validation.
Implement robust data extraction, transformation, and anonymization processes to meet testing requirements while adhering to compliance standards.
Planning and Execution:
Develop data provisioning strategies for integrated and Agile testing, ensuring data is reusable, accurate, and scalable.
Oversee the creation of automated data provisioning pipelines to support testing needs.
Continuous Improvement:
Employ root cause analysis to address data-related issues and implement long-term solutions.
Stay informed about advancements in data management tools and techniques to continuously improve processes.
Cross-Functional Collaboration (15%)
Integration and Communication:
Collaborate with development, product management, operations, and testing teams to ensure environments and data align with testing requirements.
Build strong relationships across teams to promote collaboration and shared ownership of environment and data readiness.
Best Practices and Knowledge Sharing:
Facilitate knowledge sharing on environment and data management best practices across teams.
Promote proactive problem-solving to maintain a relentless focus on quality and efficiency.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired in Computer Science. 10+ years of related experience.
Our Director- Quality Engineering - Ecosystem, earns between $191,400-$287,200 USD Annual not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
