What You'll Do:

AT&T Network Service Delivery organization is seeking a Principal Member of Technical Staff to collaborate closely with network engineers, system architects, and software engineers in the development of innovative network and software products for AT&T’s wireless and wireline network. This role involves applying advanced technologies—including artificial intelligence and data analytics, along with mainstream software to drive network and technology transformation initiatives. Additionally, the PMTS will conduct research on emerging technology trends and leverage these insights to address complex challenges in network systems development and influence Enterprise Architecture and project specific Solution Architecture by partnering with Enterprise Architects and Solution Architects. Lead the technical solution of complex network and technology transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will have experience in both network domain and software technologies.

What You'll Bring:

  • Influence Enterprise Architecture and project-specific Solution Architecture by partnering with Enterprise Architects and Solution Architects. Collaborate with system engineers to use advanced technical knowledge to define architecture and requirements for new services. Serve as subject matter expert to assess the feasibility of system requirements. Work closely with operation partners to define and build self-service tools and applications to support network operation. Lead a team of technical professionals in network OSS transformation projects, providing guidance to ensure successful delivery of network OSS products
  • Leveraging AI and data analytics to drive the transformation and development of network OSS systems. Conduct research on industry trends in data analytics, AI, and networking, and integrate emerging technologies into network OSS development.
  • Design, develop, test and deploy software to support delivery of network features using emerging technologies such as Agentic AI, GEN AI, Machine Learning along with tools and technologies such as Angular, Java, Spring Boot, Oracle DB, Copilot, GEN AI, Docker, Kubernetes, CICD, REST API, Microservices, Kafka, VS code, and AZURE. Perform test automation using AITAP.
  • Conduct rigorous testing and validation to ensure stability of the application, system, platform and network operation. Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and software tools and technologies to continuously improve applications.
  • Document code, algorithms, and system design for maintenance and future development. Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentoring junior developers. Develop tools and applications using Agentic AI, GEN AI and machine learning capability to resolve prod issues, stale & failed orders, and exception handling.
  • Ensure that applications conform to AT&T technical standards for performance, security, high availability, disaster recovery, observably, scalability, and code quality.
  • Take ownership of diagnosing, triaging, and resolving critical and complex production issues, ensuring minimal disruption to network operations. Perform thorough root cause analysis (RCA) for major incidents, documenting findings and implementing long-term solutions to prevent recurrence. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, support, and product management— during high-severity incidents to coordinate rapid resolution and clear communication. Serve as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and direction to the teams during troubleshooting and recovery efforts.
  • Collaborate with system engineers to use advanced technical knowledge to define architecture and requirements for new services. Serve as subject matter expert to assess the feasibility of system requirements.

What You'll Need:

  • Education/Experience: Masters in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelors in an approved field from an approved university with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience.

Our Principal Member of Technical Staff, earns between $160,900-$241,300USD Annual Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
