This career step requires career level experience. Analyzes growth trends, updates forecasts, and analyzes data to make technological choices for both fiber and equipment in support of the wireless and wireline infrastructure.

Recommends strategic network planning and network evolution policy decisions in support of corporate initiatives, customer demand, technology changes, economic and service reliability criteria.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

-Analyzes capacities, forecasts, and trends to evaluate relief requirements.

-Maintains fiber assignment and equipment capacity monitoring databases.

-Answers customer driven Service Orders, as well as internal/external inquiries for all types of service provided by the wireline network.

-Analyzes the long-term outside plant capacity needs for wireless and wireline infrastructure by maintaining detailed route plans, which include serving route plans, forecasts, and sizing information for both in franchise and out of franchise geographies.

-Capacity needs are driven by company-initiated build plans, as well as customer service demands due to business and residential growth. This and other information are used to prepare cost analysis business cases for choosing technology and fiber routes.

-Evaluates new and emerging technologies for addition and/or application to the existing network.

-Determine when to place new technology, migrate from and retire older technologies. May provide mid to long term analysis and plans for a specific technology, including providing input on placing new technology and removing or replacing outdated technology.

-Requires extensive collaboration with a variety of National Staff and field organizations to determine build plans and meeting service demands. These activities are the basis for capital deployment and allocation decisions.

-Deliverables include planning project handoff packages, cost estimates, and build intervals for other downstream entities, including Engineering, Construction, Wireless Providers, Sales, External Affairs, Regulatory, and other Business Units.

Job Contribution:

Technical professional with some experience. Sound technical knowledge growing through application, expanding knowledge of ATT technologies. Demonstrates an intermediate knowledge of the Planning position, including tools and databases. Has the ability to complete most types of projects routinely handled by Planners, including Service Order assignments, equipment relief projects, TFWs/ALMs, Greenfield developments, simple and complex Route Studies, backbone fiber projects, fiber overbuild, and government/legal mandate road projects. In addition to their ability to complete projects, they must possess an intermediate knowledge of the Planning and Engineering databases to update and resolve system errors in such systems as PACE, MIC, CFAS, FPA, FRVT, INSIGHT, TIRKS, Granite, Ovals, Waldo and Aramis.

Education:

Preferred Bachelors of Science degree in Math, Science, or Engineering.

Experience:

Typically requires 2-3 years experience. Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role.

Our Sr Specialist OSP Planning Engineer, earns between $77,800-$116,800 USD Annual not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
