The Principal Business Strategy serves as a senior advisor to executive leadership and program management, providing strategic oversight, business analytics, governance support, and performance management across a critical government program. The position is responsible for delivering executive-level insights into program health, financial performance, staffing, risk posture, contractual obligations, and operational execution, enabling leadership to make informed business decisions and proactively address emerging challenges.

Working closely with executive sponsors, program leadership, finance, contracts, delivery organizations, and supporting functional teams, the Principal Business Strategy develops and maintains reporting frameworks, governance processes, strategic assessments, executive communications, and business performance metrics that support successful execution of program objectives and enterprise priorities.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary business strategy advisor to executive leadership for program activities.
  • Develop executive-level reporting packages, dashboards, scorecards, and strategic assessments that provide visibility into program performance, risks, financial status, staffing, and critical milestones.
  • Lead preparation of governance reviews, leadership briefings, management reports, and executive presentations.
  • Analyze program performance trends and provide actionable recommendations to improve operational effectiveness and business outcomes.
  • Coordinate across program management, finance, contracts, engineering, operations, security, testing, and transition organizations to ensure leadership has a comprehensive view of program status.
  • Support executive oversight of contract performance, schedule attainment, resource utilization, and budget execution.
  • Monitor strategic risks, issues, dependencies, and emerging business impacts requiring leadership attention.
  • Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), program health metrics, and executive scorecards.
  • Support leadership decision-making through business case development, scenario analysis, forecasting, and strategic planning activities.
  • Track organizational priorities and ensure alignment between program activities and enterprise objectives.
  • Facilitate preparation for executive governance boards, operational reviews, and quarterly business reviews.
  • Support workforce planning, organizational readiness, recruiting strategies, and resource forecasting activities.
  • Coordinate development of executive communications, position papers, and leadership talking points.
  • Identify opportunities to improve program governance, reporting effectiveness, operational efficiency, and business performance.
  • Ensure leadership has timely visibility into cost, schedule, staffing, contractual, and operational performance drivers.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) preferred.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in business strategy, corporate development, or a related field.
  • Required certifications as specified for certain areas of specialization.
  • Proven track record of influencing executive decisions and delivering innovative business strategies.
  • Experience mentoring peers and contributing to a collaborative, results-driven culture.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Public Administration (MPA), Strategic Management, Finance, or related field.
  • Familiarity with telecommunications, network modernization, SD-WAN, managed services, and enterprise IT operations.
  • Experience supporting large IDIQ, task order, or managed service contracts exceeding $100M in value.
  • Knowledge of program performance frameworks, balanced scorecards, KPI development, and executive reporting.
  • Certifications such as PMP, PgMP, PMI-PBA, Lean Six Sigma, or related business strategy credentials.

Our Principal Business Strategy's earn between $143,800 - $215,800 Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
