Overall Purpose

Responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial statements, reports, and accounting transactions. Leads complex accounting projects, supports financial reporting and analysis processes, and ensures accounting activities are performed in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, applicable regulatory standards, and corporate policies. Supports succession planning, talent development and management, IT transformation efforts, and accounting and technology skill development to strengthen organizational capability and operational effectiveness.

The ideal candidate is a Lead Accountant with experience in revenue accounting and a strong ability to support financial planning and analysis teams. This individual will support accounting functions across the revenue lifecycle, from contract review through billing and collections. The candidate should be skilled in variance analysis, risk assessment, and accounting policy consultation, while also demonstrating the ability to develop collaborative, technology-enabled solutions that improve processes, enhance reporting accuracy, and support business decision-making.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Financial Reporting and Analysis:Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, reports, and analyses. Review financial data to identify trends, variances, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Ensure reporting activities comply with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.

  • General Ledger and Accounting Operations:Maintain accounting systems and general ledger activities. Support and/or oversee month-end and year-end close processes. Prepare and review journal entries, reconcile ledger accounts, and maintain accurate records of assets, liabilities, revenues, expenses, and other financial transactions.

  • Tax and Statutory Compliance:Support compliance with applicable local, state, and federal tax regulations and statutory filing requirements. Prepare or assist with tax-related schedules, filings, and documentation as required. Identify potential tax or compliance considerations and escalate as appropriate.

  • Internal Controls and Audit Support:Implement, monitor, and maintain internal controls to help safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting. Support adherence to company policies and procedures. Coordinate with internal and external auditors by preparing documentation and responding to audit inquiries.

  • Project Leadership and Process Improvement:Lead complex accounting projects and initiatives. Recommend and implement process improvements, system enhancements, and reporting efficiencies to support financial accuracy, operational effectiveness, and business needs.

  • Other Duties as Assigned:Perform additional responsibilities as needed to support financial operations, including cash flow analysis, budgeting support, stakeholder communication, and cross-functional collaboration.

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Five or more years of related accounting or finance experience preferred. Professional certification may be required or preferred in certain areas.

Our Lead Accountant jobs earn between $118,800.00 - $178,200.00 USD Annual. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
