Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.

GENERAL DUTIES
A Customer Services Specialist (CON) performs work associated with splicing and maintaining outside plant facilities and equipment. May perform all duties of the Communication Technician - Construction Function. Duties may also include but are not limited to the following: 1) Installs, connects, maintains, rearranges and dismantles aerial, buried, building or underground telephone plants and associated wiring and cable, including poles. 2) Works with light and heavy duty electrical and hydraulic equipment, and with numerous hand tools in the installation and maintenance of outside plant facilities. 3) Reads and interprets standard practices and engineering work prints and makes up daily time and material reports. 4) Works with hot metals, torches, small hand tools, blowers, pumps, compressors, hydraulic aerial lifts, or other mechanical equipment, various test equipment and measuring devices in connection with maintaining communications facilities. 5) Prepares newly installed cables and conductors for splicing by removing outer sheath and filling compound from buried type cable. 6) Identifies conductors in adjoining cable sections, according to diagrams and specifications, color code and/or by means of test set. 7) Performs some repair and maintenance functions on outside plant cable facilities. 8) Reviews and analyzes complex schematic drawings to determine the work to be done and assure the proper sequencing of tasks. 9) Splices wires in multiple conductor cables in aerial, underground, buried, submarine and building applications. 10) Makes necessary tests for hazardous atmosphere before entering manhole and continues tests while working in manhole. 11) Positions AT&T as the premier provider of choice. 12) Performs all other duties comparable to the above as assigned. 13) Uses and/or wears appropriate safety equipment and follows established safety practices and procedures.
Our Customer Services Specialist (CON) technicians must have the following:
Valid state driver’s license
Non-negligent driving record
Meet 275 lbs. weight limit due to safety restrictions
Ability to pass a Department of Transportation Physical
Ability to perceive differences in wire and cable colors
