As a Specialist OSP Design Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, designing and analyzing network components and infrastructure for both Wireline and Wireless systems, providing strategic short- and long-term planning, solution recommendations, and implementation to achieve technology goals.  This is a Technical professional position and will involve on the job training.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Network Design and Planning:

    • Develop network layouts, ensure compliance, conduct feasibility studies, recommend strategic network planning and policy decisions, and evaluate network capacity and performance criteria

  • Cost Estimation and Budgeting:

    • Prepare cost estimates, monitor expenses, provide financial reports, and create economic deliverables such as Plans of Record, Forecasts, and Utility Agreements

  • Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain documentation, generate reports, develop technical documentation, and create deliverables including Plans of Record, Forecasts, Serving Plans, Use Permits, Handoffs, Workprints, and Utility Agreements

  • Technical Proficiency and Leadership:

    • Demonstrate sound technical knowledge, mentor peers and new hires, resolve complex problems, provide training, and promote knowledge sharing

  • Implementation and Strategy Development:

    • Develop and implement strategies to accommodate network growth and change, ensuring alignment with corporate initiatives, customer demand, technology changes, and service reliability criteria

  • Exercises judgment in the absence of prescribed guidelines or policies determine appropriate action

  • Works under minimal supervision with independent judgement

  • Actions impact efficiency and costs. Interacts primarily within the department, across various teams

  • Plans, designs, or analyzes network components, infrastructure, and architecture to support and execute against our strategic technology goals, including both Wireline and Wireless components

  • Provides short- and long-term planning for access network technologies, including analysis, solution recommendations, and the implementation of said strategy

  • Recommends strategic network planning and network evolution policy decisions, both in and out of franchise, in support of corporate initiatives, customer demand, technology changes, economic and service reliability criteria

  • Evaluates network capacity/performance criteria and develops and implements strategies to accommodate network growth and change

  • Creates deliverables, Plans of Record, Forecasts, Serving Plans, Use Permits, Cost Estimates, Handoffs, Workprints, Utility Agreements, etc.

  • Demonstrates a basic knowledge of the engineering position, design tool and databases

  • Has the ability to complete most types of small, medium and large projects

Required Experience:

  • 1+ years of related experience

  • Certification is required in some areas

  • Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role

  • Complete understanding of methods and procedures for engineering fiber facilities

Desired Education:

  • Bachelors of Science degree in Math, Science, or Engineering preferred

Our Specialist OSP Design earn between $79,200 - $118,800 annually.  Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
