As a Specialist OSP Design Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, designing and analyzing network components and infrastructure for both Wireline and Wireless systems, providing strategic short- and long-term planning, solution recommendations, and implementation to achieve technology goals. This is a Technical professional position and will involve on the job training.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Network Design and Planning:
Develop network layouts, ensure compliance, conduct feasibility studies, recommend strategic network planning and policy decisions, and evaluate network capacity and performance criteria
Cost Estimation and Budgeting:
Prepare cost estimates, monitor expenses, provide financial reports, and create economic deliverables such as Plans of Record, Forecasts, and Utility Agreements
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain documentation, generate reports, develop technical documentation, and create deliverables including Plans of Record, Forecasts, Serving Plans, Use Permits, Handoffs, Workprints, and Utility Agreements
Technical Proficiency and Leadership:
Demonstrate sound technical knowledge, mentor peers and new hires, resolve complex problems, provide training, and promote knowledge sharing
Implementation and Strategy Development:
Develop and implement strategies to accommodate network growth and change, ensuring alignment with corporate initiatives, customer demand, technology changes, and service reliability criteria
Exercises judgment in the absence of prescribed guidelines or policies determine appropriate action
Works under minimal supervision with independent judgement
Actions impact efficiency and costs. Interacts primarily within the department, across various teams
Plans, designs, or analyzes network components, infrastructure, and architecture to support and execute against our strategic technology goals, including both Wireline and Wireless components
Provides short- and long-term planning for access network technologies, including analysis, solution recommendations, and the implementation of said strategy
Recommends strategic network planning and network evolution policy decisions, both in and out of franchise, in support of corporate initiatives, customer demand, technology changes, economic and service reliability criteria
Evaluates network capacity/performance criteria and develops and implements strategies to accommodate network growth and change
Creates deliverables, Plans of Record, Forecasts, Serving Plans, Use Permits, Cost Estimates, Handoffs, Workprints, Utility Agreements, etc.
Demonstrates a basic knowledge of the engineering position, design tool and databases
Has the ability to complete most types of small, medium and large projects
Required Experience:
1+ years of related experience
Certification is required in some areas
Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role
Complete understanding of methods and procedures for engineering fiber facilities
Desired Education:
Bachelors of Science degree in Math, Science, or Engineering preferred
Our Specialist OSP Design earn between $79,200 - $118,800 annually. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
