As a Lead Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design, development, testing, and deployment of high-performance, scalable software applications. This hands-on engineering position requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality solutions. You will collaborate across teams to drive technical innovation, mentor junior engineers, and ensure adherence to best practices in software development and automation.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Design & Development:
Lead the technical design and development of cross-functional, multi-platform application systems using Java 11/17, Spring Framework, and asynchronous message processing technologies like Apache Kafka.
Build scalable solutions leveraging NoSQL databases such as Cassandra and Microservices architecture.
Collaboration & Leadership:
Partner with Lead Engineers, Architects, Product Managers, and business stakeholders to identify technical needs and prioritize solutions.
Provide functional and technical leadership while mentoring junior engineers to enhance their technical skills and career growth.
Automation & Testing:
Write high-quality code with a relentless focus on automated testing, including unit, functional, and integration testing using tools like JUnit, Mockito, Selenium, and Postman.
Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub, Maven, Jenkins, and Sonar.
Application Performance & Support:
Perform complex engineering activities related to performance tuning, monitoring, deployment, and production application support, including troubleshooting and maintenance.
Enforce best practices in development methodology, architecture, security, automation, and compliance.
Agile Development:
Work within Agile/Scrum/Kanban development teams to deliver iterative solutions while ensuring alignment with business requirements.
Required Qualifications:
Experience:
5+ years of progressive experience in building high-volume, Java-based web applications using Spring Framework, REST APIs, NoSQL Databases (e.g., Cassandra), and asynchronous message processing (e.g., Apache Kafka).
Experience in developing and deploying applications in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform).
Proven ability in CI/CD pipeline implementation and maintenance.
Technical Expertise:
Proficiency in Unix/Linux command line and familiarity with HTML5, JavaScript frameworks, and CSS3.
Strong knowledge of Microservices architecture and event-driven computing.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications:
Leadership experience in coaching and mentoring junior engineers.
Hands-on experience with scaled Agile development methodologies.
Proficiency in build tools (e.g., Maven) and testing frameworks (e.g., Spock, Cucumber).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.

Our Lead Software Engineering, earns between $143,800-$215,800 USD Annual, not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
