Job Overview:
As a Lead Manager for Communications & PR, you’ll be responsible for managing, strategizing and executing complex employee communications. The role primarily leads communications for our Labor Relations organization, supporting the company’s goal of reaching fair agreements with our union partners while mitigating risk. Additionally, this role is paired with developing and navigating communications to our frontline workforce, specifically our customer-facing organizations which include AT&T Field Operations.

This job title is used exclusively for employees in Corporate Communications.

What you’ll do:

·Develop, manage, and execute tactical internal communications that are specifically focused on and customized for our frontline workforce.

·Create and implement holistic plans that capture communications before, during, and after collective bargaining rounds and reinforce AT&T’s position as a union-friendly employer with the largest unionized workforce in the U.S telecommunications industry.

·Partner with our labor relations teams to develop strategic communications for leaders, employees, media, and public officials during bargaining and beyond.

·Write and oversee the publication of multiple types of media for the purpose of reaching our frontline employees, including articles, videos, microsites, banner ads, newsletters, brochures, social media content, and other materials.

·Coordinate with key communicators on our frontline teams at all levels, planning and strategizing communications to reach our frontline employees through the channels they most prefer.

·Leverage metrics, research, focus groups, and survey feedback to better inform our frontline communications strategy and tactics.

·Directly interact with key stakeholders across our retail, care, field services, and enterprise organizations to uncover best practices and preferences that we can apply to our frontline communications approach.

·May provide frontline-related messaging to support events, including video scripts, talking points, or background materials.

·Maintain a high-level understanding of industry trends affecting the company, often with a labor/frontline lens, and make appropriate recommendations regarding communication strategy surrounding them.

What you’ll bring:

·5-8 years of experience in a communications-related field preferred.

·Must be willing to come into the Dallas headquarters five days a week.

·Must have several years of experience in internal communications at a Fortune 100 company, showing increasing responsibilities throughout their career journey.

·Must have extensive experience managing communications in a labor relations capacity, along with a history of writing materials for a large, dispersed frontline workforce – preferably with organizations represented by a union.

·Must have strong relationship-building skills, with not only senior leaders but also with frontline supervisors and their support organizations.

·Must have strong writing skills – with examples to show.

·Must have excellent project management skills.

·Must have the ability to collaborate with peers/colleagues/subject matter experts on a variety of topics.

·Must be a self-starter and want to be a constant “learner.”

·Must have experience making data-driven decisions when evaluating communications effectiveness.

·Must have experience trying different tactics trying to reach different segments of the employee population.

·Presentation skills preferred.

·Experience managing a communications plan, from ideation to execution, is needed in this role.


Job Contribution: An experienced professional, recognized as an expert, creatively resolving complex issues with broad and in-depth knowledge. Leads significant projects with strategic autonomy, influencing executive decisions. Mentors less experienced staff, implements long-term plans impacting the organization, and frequently collaborates with senior leadership.

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) desired. 5+ years of related experience. Certification is required in some areas.

Our Lead Manager Communications & PR earn between $105,600 - $158,400 of TSR. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers.
