This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted. No relocation is offered.
We’re looking for a strategic and adaptable Director of Communications & PR to lead internal and external communications for AT&T’s executive team and key initiatives. This role will craft clear, compelling messages that support our network modernization and company growth priorities, ensuring consistent messaging across all audiences. You’ll work closely with senior leaders, business groups, and marketing teams to manage sensitive communications, engage stakeholders, and advance the company’s most important goals. This role combines creative storytelling with strong execution and requires navigating complex organizational dynamics to strengthen AT&T’s reputation and drive long-term success.
Key Roles and Responsibilities: Typical tasks may include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Strategic Communications: Develop and execute integrated internal and external communications plans that captivate and inspire various audiences.
2. Develop and Manage Communications: Write and oversee publication of both internal and external communications, including blogs, press releases, speeches, talking points, social media posts, multimedia content, and corporate messaging materials.
3. Establish Relationships with Business Groups: Foster close relationships with the Business Groups to communicate the company’s vision effectively and creatively to internal and external stakeholders.
4. Collaborate with Marketing and PR Teams: Work closely with these key partners to manage brand and corporate identity, ensuring a consistent and captivating brand story.
5. Team Leadership: Directly supervise, develop and mentor a small, talented team.
6. Creative Storytelling: Shape thought leadership platforms, stories, and content, ensuring alignment with our company’s values, priorities, and leadership tone.
7. Media: Prepare media backgrounders and key reports.
8. Monitor Industry News: Maintain an understanding of industry trends and conduct timely research on news coverage, issues, and industry reports affecting the company to inform team decision-making.
9. Executive Communications: Develop and manage communications specifically tailored for C-suite executives, ensuring messaging is aligned, timely, and sensitive to the unique demands of executive leadership.
10. Confidential and Sensitive Information Handling: Manage and safeguard sensitive corporate information and communications, maintaining discretion and professionalism in all executive and strategic messaging.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 8+ years of experience in related areas of responsibility, including significant exposure to executive-level communications
- Exceptional writing skills and keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Creative thinking skills, with a proven ability to craft compelling narratives and innovative solutions.
- Team management and passion for developing talent.
Job Contribution: An expert in their field, leveraging advanced knowledge to shape company objectives and achieve goals. Leads impactful, wide-scope projects, creatively solving complex problems and developing policy changes. Identifies innovative solutions with significant operational impact. Works autonomously, frequently engaging with senior and executive leaders and serving as a strategic advisor.
Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) or advanced degree desired. 10+ years of related experience.
