About the Marketing & Growth Organization

The Marketing & Growth Organization is AT&T’s marketing engine, responsible for driving sustainable growth by deeply understanding and championing our customers, captivating them with compelling products, services and experiences; and building a culturally relevant and beloved brand. Overall Purpose:  Translate business problems into actionable insights through a comprehensive workflow involving coding, data extraction, cleansing, feature engineering, exploratory data analysis, model creation and tuning, visualization, and deployment, leveraging statistical analysis, machine learning, and big data technologies to drive informed decision-making and innovation.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Data Extraction and Preparation

  • Purpose: Collect and prepare marketing data to uncover actionable insights.
  • Tasks:
    • Gather data from various structured and unstructured sources, such as customer databases, CRM systems, social media platforms, and marketing analytics tools.
    • Work with datalakes, cloud platforms, or external/internal marketing data sources to ensure data consistency and quality.
    • Preprocess data to handle missing values, inconsistencies, and outliers, ensuring clean datasets for campaign analysis and audience segmentation.

2. Modeling and Insights Generation

  • Marketing Analytics and Predictive Modeling:
    • Build Bayesian statistical models to assess campaign performance, predict customer behaviors, and quantify ROI uncertainty.
    • Develop custom Bayesian models using probabilistic programming languages (e.g., Stan, PyMC3) to answer complex marketing questions, such as customer lifetime value (CLV) or churn prediction.
    • Conduct Bayesian inference to estimate model parameters, forecast campaign outcomes, and optimize resource allocation across marketing channels.
    • Analyze model fit and perform diagnostics to ensure robust predictions that align with marketing goals.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., sales, product, and operations) to integrate Bayesian insights into marketing decision-making.
  • AI-Powered Marketing Solutions:
    • Leverage machine learning models to personalize marketing campaigns, improve audience targeting, and enhance customer experiences.
    • Build AI solutions for recommendation systems, dynamic pricing, sentiment analysis, and ad performance optimization.
    • Utilize NLP to analyze customer feedback, reviews, and social media sentiment, driving content strategy and engagement.
    • Apply computer vision techniques to optimize visual content for campaigns (e.g., image recognition for social media ads).
    • Test, deploy, and maintain AI systems to ensure they align with marketing workflows and business goals.
    • Stay updated on the latest AI and machine learning trends to suggest improvements to marketing systems and strategies.

3. Communication

  • Purpose: Translate technical insights into actionable marketing strategies.
  • Tasks:
    • Clearly communicate complex statistical concepts and findings to marketing teams, stakeholders, and executive leadership.
    • Present insights visually using tools like Tableau, PowerBI, or Python libraries (e.g., matplotlib, seaborn) to make data-driven recommendations accessible to non-technical audiences.
    • Work closely with marketers to ensure that data insights directly inform campaign strategy, budget allocation, and audience segmentation.

Requirements and skills

Educational Background:

  • Degree in Marketing Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A strong academic foundation in data science and AI, with applications to marketing.

Technical Skills:

Marketing Analytics Tools:

  • SQL: Query and manipulate marketing databases.
  • Palantir: Work with data integration and analysis platforms for marketing insights.
  • Python: Analyze marketing data, automate workflows, and build predictive models.
  • Tableau/PowerBI: Visualize campaign performance metrics and audience insights.
  • Snowflake: Manage cloud-based marketing data warehouses.

Machine Learning and AI for Marketing:

  • Experience with deep learningNLP, and computer vision for marketing applications.
  • Proficiency in AI frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.

Programming:

  • Advanced proficiency in Python for modeling and automation.
  • Familiarity with Java and R for additional analytics tasks.

Bayesian Statistics:

  • Expertise in probabilistic programming languages (e.g., StanPyMC3).
  • Strong foundation in statistical modeling for marketing analysis.

Job Contribution: An expert in their field, applying broad business knowledge and strategic insight surrounding emerging trends and technologies to solve complex problems and drive organizational results. Leads critical, high-impact projects and designs/implements innovative business strategies. Works with minimal oversight, frequently consulting senior leadership and influencing executive decisions. Serves as a mentor and assists others with challenging issues.

Work Schedule:  This position requires office presence of a minimum of 5 days per week and is only located in the location(s) posted.  No relocation is offered

Work Location:  Dallas, TX

Education/Experience: Master's degree (MS/MA) required from an accredited University in a Quantitative field of study such as Data Science, Math, Statistics, Engineering or Physics. 7+ years of related experience. Certification is required in some areas.

Our Principal Data Scientist earn between $180,200 - $270,400 USD Annual. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers.
