AT&T is seeking a dynamic and experienced AVP, Sales – FirstNet to lead strategic growth and field execution across our Central U.S. FirstNet business. This executive-level role oversees a team of 100+ and is responsible for driving over $500M in annual revenue. The AVP will spearhead sales strategy and market development across key public sector verticals, including public safety, state and local government, K–12, and public higher education. The ideal candidate brings deep public sector sales expertise, operational rigor, and the ability to scale innovative mobility solutions that meet the mission-critical needs of first responders. This role is based in either Dallas, TX or Chicago, IL, and will be instrumental in shaping AT&T’s go-to-market leadership in public sector mobility.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute comprehensive short- and long-term sales strategies to drive market growth and customer impact.
Lead FirstNet field execution across the Central Region, driving revenue growth and market penetration.
Manage strategic partnerships, alliances, and public sector relationships to enhance market presence.
Guide national and local strategic initiatives, including launch plans, field enablement, and communications.
Conduct market research and deliver insights that inform sales strategy and performance improvement.
Promote a culture of innovation, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Ensure compliance with public sector regulatory frameworks and AT&T corporate standards.
Manage business performance, headcount planning, and resource allocation across a geographically distributed team.
Required Qualifications
Proven background in public sector or mobility sales leadership roles.
Demonstrated experience managing large teams (100+ employees) and leading cross-functional initiatives.
Strong operational acumen and strategic planning capability.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
10+ years of experience in business development, market expansion, or sales strategy.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in telecommunications, technology-driven industries, or with FirstNet/public safety customers.
Advanced degree (MBA or MS) in a related discipline.
Sales leadership experience in mobility or public sector-focused organizations.
