AT&T is seeking a strategic communicator and creative storyteller to drive the overall narrative as a leader in consumer technology and brand growth aligned with our purpose of connecting customers to greater possibility. The Assistant Vice President of Corporate Communications for Brand Marketing and Growth Communications reports to the Vice President of Consumer Communications and is based at AT&T headquarters in Dallas, Texas.
The AVP will leads a team of 4-6 communications professionals supporting AT&T’s dynamic marketing and advertising initiatives and communication strategies for its broad sponsorship portfolio that advance our brand’s overall reputation and reinforce the company’s leadership in broadband connectivity. The team also leads communication strategies for major company initiatives and partners with AT&T product teams to engage current and future customers through a broad array of media channels.
The successful candidate will bring established relationships and expertise in bolstering brand impact through sponsorships, partnerships and creative activations. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of national, consumer and lifestyle media, industry events and thought leadership platforms. The AVP will be responsible for proactive storytelling, securing media coverage in influential outlets, and delivering measurable results against a strategic communications plan. The AVP will also lead executive communications for the Chief Marketing and Growth Officer.
The AVP is a member of the Communications Leadership Team and a key partner and strategic advisor to the organizations and executives they support.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute strategic communication plans that advance AT&T’s brand affinity and influence aligned with its mission to be the top connectivity provider, and lead media strategies that support business priorities.
Lead and manage a team of communication professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
Secure media coverage in influential outlets and deliver measurable results against a strategic communications plan.
Serve as an AT&T spokesperson, managing media relations and crisis communications.
Manage agency relationships to deliver excellence in strategic execution.
Work closely with senior leadership to craft and deliver key messages that resonate with internal and external stakeholders.
Establish and grow relationships with key media, with a strong focus on national, consumer and lifestyle reporters and industry thought leaders.
Oversee the creation of impactful content for various channels, including press releases, internal communications, social media, multimedia and executive speeches.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product launches, technology advancements, and innovation initiatives.
Analyze communication metrics to measure effectiveness and adjust strategies as needed.
Stay abreast of industry trends, brand campaigns and emerging technologies to inform and enhance communication strategies.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
A minimum of 15 years of experience in corporate communications, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Established relationships and expertise in technology and innovation—including deep understanding of tech media, industry events and thought leadership platforms.
Proven track record of developing and executing successful communication strategies in a consumer-facing product company or technology/telecommunications environment.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey high-level concepts and complex issues in a clear and creative manner.
Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience leading a diverse team of professionals.
Experience managing agency partners to achieve results.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships with senior executives and stakeholders, influencing decision-making and driving strategic initiatives.
Experience in media relations, including managing press inquiries and crisis communications.
Proficiency in leveraging digital and social media platforms for corporate communication purposes.
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret communication metrics and derive actionable insights.
Strong media and messaging judgement.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the telecommunications sector.
Knowledge of AT&T’s products, and services.
Established media and industry relationships in the consumer and technology spaces.
Seasoned user of AI to achieve communications objectives.
Working Conditions:
This position is based in Dallas, Texas, with potential travel as required up to 20 percent.
