System Engineer with Networking and Scripting expertise.
Position Overview: We are seeking a talented and experienced System Engineer with a strong background in networking technologies, including WAN, routers, switches, and hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper platforms. The ideal candidate will also possess scripting and automation skills in Python, Perl, Unix shell scripting, and expertise in Azure cloud technologies. This role requires a motivated individual who can design, implement, and maintain complex network systems while leveraging automation to optimize processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Network Design and Implementation:
Design, configure, and maintain WAN technologies and routing/switching solutions for Cisco, Juniper, and other platforms.
Implement and troubleshoot dynamic routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP to ensure high availability and optimal network performance.
Ensure network security by configuring firewalls, VPNs, and secure access protocols.
System Engineering and Cloud Integration:
Deploy and manage network systems in hybrid environments, including on-premises and Azure cloud infrastructure.
Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability by implementing network automation and monitoring tools.
Collaborate with cloud teams to integrate networking solutions with Azure services like Virtual Network, ExpressRoute, and Load Balancers.
Automation and Scripting:
Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, Perl, and Unix shell scripting for tasks such as configuration management, network monitoring, and deployment.
Create automation workflows to streamline operations and reduce manual tasks.
Troubleshoot and debug scripts to ensure seamless integration with networking systems.
Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
Monitor network and system performance using tools like SolarWinds, Nagios, or similar platforms.
Identify, analyze, and resolve network issues to ensure uninterrupted services.
Perform root cause analysis for incidents and implement preventive measures.
Documentation and Collaboration:
Document network designs, configurations, and processes for reference and knowledge sharing.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, infrastructure, and security teams, to ensure alignment of goals.
Train junior engineers and provide technical guidance when needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Networking Expertise:
Strong experience with WAN technologies and protocols (MPLS, SD-WAN, VPN, etc.).
Advanced knowledge of Cisco and Juniper routers, switches, and associated network devices.
Hands-on experience with network configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization.
Scripting and Automation:
Proficiency in Python, Perl, and Unix shell scripting for automation tasks.
Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible or Terraform is a plus.
Cloud Technologies:
Solid understanding of Azure cloud services, including Virtual Networks, ExpressRoute, and cloud security best practices.
Familiarity with hybrid cloud environments and integration techniques.
Technical Aptitude:
Strong understanding of dynamic routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and Layer 2/3 switching concepts.
Knowledge of network security principles and technologies (firewalls, ACLs, IDS/IPS).
Soft Skills:
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent networking certifications.
Experience with DevOps tools and methodologies.
Familiarity with SDN (Software-Defined Networking) and NFV (Network Functions Virtualization).
Experience with other cloud platforms like AWS or Google Cloud.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Equivalent experience or relevant certifications may be considered in lieu of a degree.
