What interested you in working part-time at AT&T?
When my wife and I were about to have our first child, we really wanted my wife to be a stay-at-home mom. I had worked in the cell phone industry for several years, and I was pretty comfortable with it. So, I popped into my local AT&T store to drop off my resume. Now it's eight years later, I have two children and I'm still here!
What are the benefits of a part-time position?
This is the best part-time job ever. I get a pension and a 401k with matching tuition assistance. I use the dental plan to augment the one I have at my full-time job. Plus, there’s paid vacation and holidays. Oh, and the pay is fantastic.
What’s it like getting to experience the latest and greatest technology for your job?
Working here has exposed me to an industry that has done so much with smartphones and tablets. Now, friends and family always consult me about the latest tech. I would be so far behind the times if I didn't work here.
How has working at AT&T helped you further your education?
The tuition assistance program helped me pay for my Master's from Boston University.
How has working a part-time schedule benefited you outside of work?
I’m able to align my work schedule with my full-time job and support my family.
How is this part-time job different from others?
It lets me earn more by working harder. Plus, I get to work with fun people and make great friends.
What advice would you give to someone on their first day at AT&T? What do you wish you knew when you started?
Look for those on your team who are leaders and learn from them. Try different sales techniques and watch others until you find what's comfortable and effective for you.
