Position Summary: The Director of Public Affairs is responsible for developing and implementing strategic communication plans that advance the organization’s public policy goals, enhance its reputation, and foster strong relationships with key stakeholders. This role involves managing media relations, government affairs, community outreach, and public relations initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
Develop and implement comprehensive public affairs strategies that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
Identify and prioritize key public policy issues and opportunities for the organization.
Government Relations:
Build and maintain relationships with government officials, policymakers, and regulatory agencies.
Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments that impact the organization.
Advocate for the organization’s interests in legislative and regulatory processes.
Community Outreach:
Develop and implement community engagement programs.
Represent the organization at community events and public forums.
Foster partnerships with community organizations and stakeholders.
Crisis Management:
Develop and implement crisis communication plans.
Manage communication during crisis situations to protect the organization’s reputation.
Internal Communications:
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure consistent messaging.
Provide communication support for internal initiatives and programs.
Team Leadership:
Manage budgets, resources, and performance metrics for the public affairs department.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Political Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in public affairs, government relations, or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Skills:
Strong understanding of public policy and legislative processes.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Proficiency in media relations and crisis communication.

Our Director Public Affairs earns between $158,200 - $237,400annually. Not to mention all the other amazing rewards that working at AT&T offers. Individual starting salary within this range may depend on geography, experience, expertise, and education/training.
