Overall Purpose: Responsible for coordinating and administering internal auditing practices and methodologies, performing quality reviews and identifying educational opportunities.
Team Overview: Position resides in the newly restructured Professional Practices Group (PPG) within AT&T Audit Services. The PPG is being created in an effort to transform AT&T’s internal audit function into a world-class assurance organization. PPG will be lead by an Assistant Vice President who will have 3 teams supporting the actual audit teams: Risk & Planning, Quality/Methodology/People, and Reporting/Systems. The PPG team is tasked with ensuring that the audit teams have the topics, tools and resources to do their jobs.
Position Overview: The AD of Quality/Methodology/People will manage 3 direct reports, each with primary responsibility for each topic (although cross-training is expected between the 3 individuals). The Quality team member is responsible for executing on the Quality Assurance and Improvement Program making sure policies and procedures are being followed. The Methodology team member will be responsible for assisting in the re-write of the internal audit step-by-step guide, making updates as appropriate and ensuring the Teammate + Audit Management software aligns. Finally, the People team member will be responsible for helping to implement and maintain the new competency model and related skills assessment process, curriculum creation/delivery and on-boarding of new hires/3rd party resources.
Key Roles and Responsibilities: Responsible for managing practice methodologies for the full practice lifecycle including identifying gaps, overseeing development of methodology and training. May be an audit specialist or SME in a specific area, managing the work of, and providing guidance to less experienced auditors. May work in a limited role as an extension of the company’s independent auditors and/or on highly sensitive independent projects. Receives only policy level direction from management. Audit responsibilities include the review, analysis, and monitoring of procedures and systems of internal controls within the organization. This group of professionals often works as management consultants in the review of existing systems and procedures, or in the development of new or modified systems and procedures. Manage a team that will develop and perform quality reviews to assess adherence to departmental policy and professional standards. Develops recommendations for improving the procedures being audited.
Job Contribution: Interprets professional standards to develop departmental practices and policies covering methods, techniques and evaluation criterion for obtaining and documenting audit results. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criterion for obtaining results. Work leadership provided by assigning work and resolving problems. Performs all personnel management activities for subordinates including recruitment, training, performance evaluation and salary management; encourages professional development through job assignments and training. Influences decisions regarding the hiring, firing, disciplinary action, promotional activity, and pay decisions for subordinates.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Experience:
