Our Facilities & Network Engineer Team supports our clients by, providing, operating and assuring critical services related to special purpose facilities and wireline networks supporting government and military operations.

AT&T has an opening for a Principal System Engineer to support clients across Government and Industry byprovidingdesign, capacity planning, life cycle management and operations of AT&T owned facilities and networks.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

As a Principal System Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, delivering, and operating modern, special purpose, facilities and networks dedicated to our Government clients.  You will coordinate efforts of engineers and technical support staff to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty with our AT&T Public Sector customer base.

The Principal System Engineer must possess all general abilities and most of the Engineering specific abilities in one or more disciplines:

General –

  • Consulting with direct sales teams and customers to provide technical expertise regarding the design, customization, implementation and account management of the products and services within scope of the position
  • Providing technical support in sales presentations, product demonstrations, and installation and maintenance of in-scope products to ensure the system is functioning according to specifications
  • Finance and accounting acumen sufficient to conduct ROI analyses, develop & justify multi-year capital/operating expenditures, and to manage projects to a defined budget
  • Ability to work independently, take on commitments, communicate and cooperate to resolve issues and work collaboratively in a fast-paced agile environment
  • Excellent written and oral communications are required to interface with industry partners and customers

Facilities Engineering –

  • Knowledge of Electrical, HVAC, Life Safety, and General Construction best practice, Codes, and associated government regulation sufficient to oversee the design, construction, and operation of high availability, special purpose facilities (e.g. data centers, operations centers, etc.)
  • Ability to direct contract personnel responsible for facilities Operations/Maintenance and provide oversight/subject matter expertise to drive troubleshooting efforts to quickly resolve facility systems issues.

Network Engineering -

  • Developing and evaluating network performance criteria and measurement methods
  • Preparing analysis of the short term or long-term capacity needs for wireline infrastructure
  • Conducting wireline network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies
  • Recommending strategic network architecture planning and network evolution policy decisions in support of corporate initiatives, customer demand, technology changes, economic and service reliability criteria

Required Clearance:

Must be a US citizen and possess or be able to obtain Top Secret level clearance. 

Required Qualifications:

 The candidate must have a BS in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics discipline (or a related field) and engineering experience focused on special purpose Facilities and/or Network design or 10+ years of demonstrated experience in lieu of BS degree.

Desired Qualifications:

Willingness to travel (Approximately 30%)

Additionally, experience with ICD-705; NCSC-19-329; and MIL STD 188/125 facility standards is a plus.
