AT&T’s Research, Analytics and Insights team is looking for an innovative and experienced professional to join our team.

Part of the mission of our team is to develop and implement a systematic approach to measure marketing’s impact on sales, profitability and brand equity.

The Lead Data Scientist - Advanced Analytics position will build an industry leading data science capability to enable measurement and insights for marketing investment and impact.


As a Lead Data Scientist, Advanced Analytics you’ll lead team efforts to develop, maintain, and refine market mix, multi-touch attribution, customer base, customer value, and brand analytics models for AT&T’s Consumer Businesses.

Insights will drive strategies and tactics to increase sales, lower churn and optimize AT&T’s deployment of advertising messages, mass media, social media and direct/digital marketing to drive the AT&T brand forward.


As a Lead Data Scientist, Advanced Analytics you’ll:

  • Work closely with internal market research and data science teams to build and deploy new solutions and capabilities on marketing measurement
  • Build and deploy data infrastructure and modeling platforms that enable modeling, forecasting, and optimizations of marketing plans
  • Manage analytical and data vendor teams
  • Share insights with senior executives and craft related action plans with internal stakeholders
  • Be a subject matter expert on marketing analytics within company who can build a high impact data science capability and be an advocate for measurement with cross functional partners

Position Qualifications

  • Excellent analytical skills and deep experience developing multivariate models to produce insights.
  • A deep understanding of applied statistics, time series analysis, and data mining.
  • Experience with marketing mix modeling and multi-touch attribution, with broad experience applying statistical models to answer a wide range of marketing measurement questions.
  • Self-starter with ability to write code and build complex databases from scratch.
  • Experience developing new solutions and research.
  • Proficiency using R, Python, SAS or a related statistical modeling platform is a must.
  • Strong Excel spreadsheet skills are required, along with experience managing large, complex data sets. Experience with optimizations and solvers is a plus.
  • Candidates must be able to manage complex, time-constrained projects and serve as a subject matter expert. He/She/They will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and is a team player who can negotiate with and influence a wide range of business constituencies.
  • A Bachelors’ degree in economics, decision science, computer science, science, analytical marketing or other quantitative field is required; a master’s or PhD is strongly preferred. 


The position is located in California (El Segundo), Texas (Dallas) or Georgia (Atlanta).   Position can work from home for majority of the time, however some days in the office / some travel will be required.
