AT&T has a commitment to delivering excellence in networks, with significant use of SDN in our network, and AT&T Labs is at the heart of AT&T's engineering organisation. We are looking for a software test automation engineer to test new software features for our Vyatta network operating system, and also to help with the development of our automation infrastructure. This is a great opportunity to work as part of a dynamic, multicultural engineering team, and to participate in AT&T's network transformation.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Participate in review of requirements and contribute to detail specification of features for new networking products
- Define test plans and test cases, to ensure known quality prior to the release of new features
- Execute test cases, maintain and report on product feature performance, conformance, and regression status
- Automate QA testing for the features tested during a release, share in maintaining test automation with the team
- Record and track product defects
- Recreate customer-reported defects to clarify problem definitions

- Python (or similar scripting, and/or C[++])
- Linux, ideally Debian
- Some/any of Atlassian toolset, jenkins, git, Robot framework
- Can demonstrate an understanding of computer architecture
- Network protocols and services

- Ability to analyse and critique software functionality
- Problem solving
- Can describe visible symptoms of a problem, and propose alternative ways to approach the diagnosis of the underlying issue

- Network support or operational networking experience
- Software development
- Network hardware setup and triage
- Cloud networks or network virtualization

Additional Information

We can offer you an unparalleled opportunity to gain in-depth networking knowledge, working alongside a diverse and industry leading team of network engineers, building components to support customer network services and our own network infrastructure, including bringups on new emerging prototype hardware.
