The AT&T Mobility & Entertainment (M&E) organization is seeking a Principal Scrum Master to join our team in our El Segundo, CA offices as part of a large Agile team building leading edge digital entertainment products.

We are seeking an experienced Principal Scrum Master who embodies servant-leadership and can effectively manage scrum-of-scrums. In this role, you will be serving as a Release Train Engineer (RTE) by helping to guide, coach and lead an Agile Release Train (ART) composed of scrum teams, product owners, and scrum masters in a fast-paced and exciting environment.  You will play a role in determining the success of a highly-visible and strategic program. Most importantly, you'll be engaged in meaningful work for a business that is bringing an integrated, seamless and smart entertainment experience delivered to virtually any screen, anywhere and anytime.

Responsibilities include:

  • Act as a servant leader to one or more Agile Release Trains

  • Removing impediments for ART to ensure maximum productivity

  • Effectively organizing and running ART/Program level ceremonies including Program Increment (PI) Planning, scrum-of-scrums, PI Retrospectives and System Demos

  • Coaching teams in Agile principles and practices

  • Becoming an active participant in Agile communities of practice by sharing Agile expertise and best practices

  • Tracking and articulating organizational impediments to Value Stream and executive leaders

  • Building a solid working relationship with the Product Manager and Systems Architect

  • Identifying, managing and (when appropriate) escalating cross-team dependencies, challenges and issues

  • Tracking ART progress through Feature/Program burn-down charts, Kanban and other metrics

  • Help manage cross-team dependencies to ensure maximum throughput and transparency

  • Facilitating retrospective sessions and introduce new and different retrospective techniques to keep team members engaged

  • Manage and measure ART work in JIRA


  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, business or related field

  • 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master or Product Owner

  • 3+ years as a Program Manager in a large enterprise environment dealing with both Agile and Waterfall teams

  • Experience with Agile at scale in large enterprise organizations in a managerial capacity

  • Scrum Alliance or certifications

  • Strong knowledge and experience with SAFe (SA or SPC certifications preferred)

  • Deep knowledge and discipline in Agile to effectively coach and guide teams in Agile methods and mindset

  • Superior mentoring, analytical, problem solving, and communication skills

  • Ability to effectively tailor communications to developers, managers and executives

  • Experience with JIRA and Agile Craft a plus

  • Experience working with distributed teams a plus
