We won’t have you file papers and make copies… we offer students much more. Like getting hands-on with state of the art technology and working to bring the latest in content and entertainment to customers in their homes and on-the-go. Can’t stop watching sports, TV, movies, and news? We need you and your obsession with innovating entertainment to make an impact on our customers and business. It’s your front row seat to the exposure and opportunity that goes along with an internship at AT&T. Get ready for show time.
The Entertainment Group Technology Internship Program goes above and beyond your daily project work; networking events with peers, breakfast with leaders, code camp, case study work, resume reviews, etc. Don’t forget the fun stuff – social events, volunteer days, and even go behind the scenes by touring our broadcast centers and our live Rich Eisen Studio.
In our 12-week paid summer internship, you’ll work on projects that allow you to collaborate and form valuable mentorships with top minds in our company. Being involved with this program not only prepares you to apply for a position with us once you graduate, but also prepares you for the professional world regardless of where you work.
Along with the technical skills listed below for each internship, you should have the following;
  • Be actively pursuing a four-year degree with a STEM focus

Software Engineering Internship
Experience what it takes to launch a successful career as a software engineer, using your design and coding know-how to enable access to content across multiple viewing platforms. Your big idea could shape how millions of customers experience the winning touchdown or binge-watch their favorite shows through our Set-Top Box and mobile apps or discover new ways to bring TV to life with Interactive Television.
Technical skills required will vary by role and could include: Software development in Swift, Java, C/C++, or scripting languages (shell, groovy, perl, etc.), Linux operating systems, SOAP and REST web services, Structured Query Language (SQL), Knowledge of Hadoop and related data analytics technologies, and Networking protocols.
Entertainment Systems Internship
As an intern, you can experience what it takes to launch a successful career designing and implementing the backend software and infrastructure that drives content across our viewing platforms and powers our big data initiatives. Your idea could shape how we deliver the winning touchdown and binge-worthy shows to millions of customers through digital broadcast TV, live streaming and on-demand IP video, or big data initiatives that find new ways to better the entertainment experience.
In this internship you could do a variety of roles: Software engineering, Software architecture, Content Delivery, Quality assurance, Subsystem engineering, Network engineering, System administration and Infrastructure planning.
Technical skills required will vary by role and could include: Software development in Python, Java, C/C++, or scripting languages (shell, groovy, perl, etc.), Linux operating systems, SOAP and REST web services, Structured Query Language (SQL), Knowledge of Hadoop and related big data technologies, and Networking protocols.
Broadcast Operations Internship
As an intern, you will work together with top minds to develop new monitoring scripts, document tasks and applications, and deploy new servers all the way from racking to software setup. You’ll also gain exposure to IP and SAN networks, RAID arrays, Oracle and DB2 databases, and even java-based applications running on Linux and Windows-based servers.
Find out what it takes to succeed in a fast-paced 24x7 operational environment at one of our Broadcast Operations centers in El Segundo or Los Angeles, California. With real-world impacts on everything from broadcast and interactive applications to DIRECTV On Demand and subscriber authentication, you’ll be front and center to solve issues in real-time, so our customers never miss those must-watch moments.
In this internship, you’ll work in one of the following positions: Engineer, Software Engineer, Network Engineer, Operations Engineer, Dynamic Advertising, and Advertisement Monitoring/Metric Enhancement.

AT&T does a good job of keeping the interns engaged. I got to meet with interns from different departments. I even got to meet some of the top executives in the company. Working for AT&T means that you will be given difficult projects and a chance to show off your skills.
