The Senior System Engineer position is a hands-on function that ultimately results in the delivery of an application or service. Responsible for translating the core architecture for business requirements into the final technical solution (consisting of platform, network, software, cloud, etc.) through functional, performance, and reliability analysis using engineering models and techniques, primarily through software development throughout the vertical stack. Defines designs; Provides technical enablement for application components and subsystems for an Application(s). Drives important design decisions for development team.

Key Roles and Responsibilities: 

  • Analyzes overall architecture of systems and then designs, develops, documents solutions, including hardware and software.
  • Researches and recommends technology to improve the current systems.
  • Advanced understanding of select ATT technologies/systems/procedures.
  • Analyzes/interprets research to evaluate and recommend solutions.
  • Recommends new procedures/processes to drive desired results.
  • Collaborates with others in own team or across teams.
  • Mentors less experienced team members in work area explaining advanced technical information and providing specialized technical guidance.


  • Typically requires 5-8 years experience.
  • Experience with Legacy UNIX operating systems (Solaris, HPUX, AIX).
  • Ability to facilitate the design and planning for large scale Data Center migrations.
  • Broad communication skills and ability to present technical material to numerous audiences.
  • Knowledge of AT&T Tools and Processes used to manage the on-prem infrastructure.
  • Data Analysis experience to gather and provide insight into  AT&T Infrastructure.
  • Preferred Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Science, Electrical Engineering, or Math; Developer nanodegree; or equivalent experience.
