DUTIES: Senior - Big Data Engineer needed by AT&T Services, Inc. in Dallas, TX [and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.; may work from home] to interpret the requirements of various Big Data Analytic Use Cases and Scenarios and drive the design and implementation of specific data models to ultimately help drive better business decisions through insights from a combination of external and AT&T's data assets. Develop necessary enablers and data platforms in Big Data Lake Environments. Maintain platform integrity during the life cycle phases. Define data requirements, gather and mine large scale of structured and unstructured data and validate data by running various data tools in the Big Data Environment. Support standardization, customization and ad-hoc data analysis. Develop mechanisms to ingest, analyze, validate, normalize and clean data. Implement statistical data quality procedures on new data sources. Apply rigorous iterative data analytics and support Data Scientists in data sourcing and preparation to visualize data and synthesize insights of commercial value. Work with Big Data Policy, Security and Legal teams to create data policy and develop interface and retention models. Develop and maintain data engineering best practices and contribute to insights on data analytics and visualization concepts, methods and techniques. Write SQL queries and PL/SQL procedures/functions for insertions and retrieval of customer information. Configure Linux and Windows servers as required for individual clients and installing MySQL, Oracle and other software. Manage the build, release and configuration of production systems. Suggest architecture improvements and recommending process improvements. Deploy, automate, maintain and manage AWS cloud-based production systems to ensure the availability, performance, scalability and security of production systems. Develop Python scripts to extract, transform and load data from a wide variety of data sources including streaming data.
REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Technology and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or two (2) years of experience in a related occupation writing SQL queries; utilizing PL/SQL procedures/functions for insertions and retrieval of customer information; configuring Linux and Windows servers as required for individual clients and installing MySQL and Oracle; managing the build, release and configuration of production systems; suggesting architecture improvements and recommending process improvements; deploying, automating, maintaining and managing AWS cloud-based production systems to ensure the availability, performance, scalability and security of production systems; and developing Python scripts to extract, transform and load data from a wide variety of data sources including streaming data.
