Job Overview
Principal-Network Design Engineer needed by AT&T Services, Inc. in Dallas, TX [and various unanticipated client sites throughout the U.S.; may work from home] to support touch labor for connectivity from one facility to other data centers, network operations, and enterprise environment dealing with multiple customers’ environments. Author process documentation, methods, procedures, and guidelines for current network planning, capacity management, and network builds. Coordinate and interface with internal and external customers to ensure service commitments are met. Utilize engineering tools, various software applications, and databases to assist in creating the engineering documents. Prepare and oversee cost and benefit estimates, presentations, negotiations, installations, problem resolutions, and multivendor product integrations. Provide initial implementation support of networks to assure proper execution and provide resolution for system failures or degradations. Maintain, install, and configure all Routers and switches in Datacenters. Support Arista, HP ProCurve, and Cisco networking platforms. Work with ticketing tools such as HPSM (HP Service Manager) and Service Now. Utilize network tools such as HPNA (HP Network Automation), NNMi (Network Node Manager i), and Wireshark to monitor health and availability of physical and virtual devices and detect faults on in network. Troubleshoot various network routing and switch issues which include BGP, OSPF, Spanning tree, VLAN and provide necessary changes to resolve. Apply advanced knowledge of additional hardware platforms such as H3C, Firewalls, and F5-Load Balancers. Provide direct involvement on conference calls for major incidents that can include vendor engagement and are customer facing. Plan calls for all large projects.
REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or two (2) years of experience supporting touch labor for connectivity from one facility to other data centers, network operations, and enterprise environment dealing with multiple customers’ environments; authoring process documentation, methods, procedures, and guidelines for current network planning, capacity management, and network builds; coordinating and interfacing with internal and external customers to ensure service commitments are met; providing initial implementation support of networks to assure proper execution and provide resolution for system failures or degradations; maintaining, installing, and configuring all routers and switches in datacenters; supporting Arista, HP ProCurve, and Cisco networking platforms; working with ticketing tools such as HPSM (HP Service Manager) and Service Now; utilizing network tools such as HPNA (HP Network Automation), NNMi (Network Node Manager i), and Wireshark to monitor health and availability of physical and virtual devices and detect faults on in network; and applying advanced knowledge of additional hardware platforms such as H3C, Firewalls, and F5-Load Balancers.
