We are dedicated to recruiting, developing and empowering a diverse, high-performing workforce that is passionate about what they do, committed to our shared values and dedicated to our customers’ mission.

RIS I is responsible for the delivery of regional IT services to the end user. We offer support to end user devices including desktops, laptops, workplace peripherals, and voice and video devices. We support local and campus area networks, including wireless and cable plant.

We are seeking a Senior System Engineer to join our End User Services team at AT&T. This role focuses on managing and improving our desktop system environment, particularly end-user devices. You will work with management to assess hardware specifications and system requirements, and develop practical solutions for hardware components like workstations, laptops, monitors, printers, and user interface devices. Your responsibilities will include preparing functional requirements for hardware purchases, creating and managing test plans, and addressing operational hardware issues to ensure our solutions meet user needs. Additionally, you will develop installation guides, field test procedures, and troubleshooting guides. The ideal candidate should be able to work independently, have strong problem-solving skills, and demonstrate good communication and collaboration abilities.

Description of Job Duties/Responsibilities:

Provide senior level Information Technology (IT) hardware engineering analysis and support, focusing on the desktop computing architecture for user devices, system configuration, testing, and integration.  Key responsibilities include:

IT Hardware Engineering Support: Includes both preventative and maintenance, deploying and installing hardware, and analyzing ticketing trends to propose solutions.

Collaboration and Planning: Involves working with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and Value-Added Resellers (VARs), preparing hardware specifications based on system requirements, and mentoring junior engineers.

Technical Documentation and Testing: Preparing engineering plans, technical design packages, functional and performance test plans, site installation, and test reports based on document requirements.

Configuration and Problem Solving: Developing standardized configurations and field troubleshooting methods for end user computing devices and peripheral equipment.

Management and Leadership: Assisting in the preparation of status reports, organizing desktop engineering efforts, providing leadership to junior engineers and systems administrators, and occasionally acting as the End User Services Manager.

Innovation and Service Improvement: Developing technology insertion plans to introduce new technologies and coordinating service improvement activities across people, processes, and technologies.

This role requires a proactive approach to hardware maintenance, a strategic mindset for planning and implementation, and a leadership role in mentoring and guiding junior team members.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills are essential, as the role involves coordinating with team members from project management, security, asset management, customer service, or help desk departments to solve problems and manage projects.

Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated Experience in the following areas:
