The Technical Writer produces accurate, efficient, and crystal-clear documentation for end users and developers on the Xandr platform. Deliverables may include feature and process overviews, functional how-tos, use case-driven tutorials, conceptual deep-dives, screen text, and error messages for our Console UI, and reference and best practice documentation for our APIs and mobile SDK.
Our planning and development process is agile, collaborative and dynamic, so this role is perfect for someone who is excited to proactively collaborate across departments (Product, User Experience, Engineering, Services), impact the product’s clarity and success from inception to release, track and own multiple tasks and information sources, and work in an environment where technical writing and open communication are valued highly.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Research, plan, and DITA-based documentation for end-user (UI) and developer (API) audiences. - Collaborate across Product, Engineering, User Experience, and Services to gather information and define documentation requirements. - Compose user interface texts and error messages for optimal product usability. - Follow existing style guides without losing sight of the big picture and understandability. - Test documentation against the product to ensure completion and accuracy.
Key Competencies and Skills:
3-6 years of technical writing experience. - Very sharp writing skills. We are focused on clarity, accuracy, and efficiency. - BA/BS/MS degree - Proven ability to quickly learn complex, technical products and convert knowledge into highly usable documentation. - Strong oral communication and presentation skills. - Fluency with Wiki, XML, and plaintext-based authoring (Confluence, DITA, Markdown) - Experience using technical writing authoring tools (oXygen Editor, Atom, FrameMaker, MadCap Flare etc.) - Experience documenting for both end-user (UI) and developer (API/SDK) audiences. - Experience designing and maintaining contextual help systems. - Skilled at balancing multiple projects while maintaining a high level of attention to detail in an agile development environment. - Experience using the MS Office Suite of products. - Familiarity with, or demonstrated capacity to learn, UNIX command-line tools such as curl. - HTML and CSS competency and ability to read code and create code samples would be a plus. - Familiarity with online advertising and/or the advertising technology industry would be a plus.
Education and Qualifications:
BA/BS/MS degree and 3+ years experience in technical writing with DITA & API experience mandatory
