Overall Purpose: Develops solutions to complex business and technical problems or issues of complex scope using advanced engineering and scientific principles. Position will support mobility network & services planning, engineering and network operations for major customer opportunities

Key Roles and Responsibilities: Applies engineering principles and practice in broad areas of complex technical project work that requires in-depth analysis using advanced techniques, knowledge, and expertise. Provides solutions and design relative to business needs and requirements.

Leads large team(s) of diverse technical SME’s across ATO, Marketing and other teams to design the best solution leveraging AT&T’s existing assets but yet meet time to market needs. During the development of the solution, the position is required to lead the team to consensus for determining a solution when multiple paths can be chosen.

Evaluates vendor technology solution and works with Supply chain management to secure commitments to requirements, scope and pricing. Develops necessary RFI/RFP/SOW documents/technology evaluation criteria in support of these activities

Develop necessary technical architecture, design and requirement documents in support of various projects including AIS, NDR, TOL, Device requirements, test strategy, customer facing deliverables & presentations, etc. Supports customer RFI/RFP’s by providing the appropriate input to the relevant sections.

Position also responsible for mentoring junior architects and attending/presenting at internal governance forums and customer meeting

Education: Required: PhD, Masters or Bachelor’s degree in an approved field such as Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Mathematics from an accredited university. Refer to the Technical Title Plan for a complete list of degrees. Experience: PhD in an approved field with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or Masters in an approved field with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors in an approved field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. Technical Career Pathway (TCP) role.

Individual must have a proven track record of strong technical depth across network and systems. Candidate should be able to provide technical leadership on numerous projects. Understand architectural principles and their implications to system& network design, extensibility and interoperability, costs, and operational considerations.

Specific subject matter expertise in one or more of the following is required on the basis of the specific role: 3G, LTE, VoLTE, QoS, IP Messaging, IR94, mobile OS platforms, RF design, LTE-Advanced. Familiar with design concepts related to IP backbone such as IP addressing plan, Routing, Security, Switching, Tunneling, VPNs, layer -2 concepts such as VLANs, COS.

Knowledge of emerging public safety technologies (MCV, GCSE, ProSe,MC-PTT) with the ability to analyze challenges in the design and application of new technologies . In-depth knowledge of understanding of SDN/NFV technologies

Strong technical leadership with ability to share knowledge and explain complex Business Problems and proposed solutions to senior management on a regular basis. Candidate must have a strong communication skills both verbally and written .Candidate must have ability to balance and prioritize work and work independently and as part of a team

Environmental Requirements: This position may be responsible for contributing to AT&T's compliance with environmental laws and regulations as applicable to its job function. This may include, but is not limited to, work related to fuel tanks, emergency and stand-by generators, boilers, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, batteries, manholes and vaults, water wells, linear and other construction projects, water discharge, or air emissions.
